Add meaning to your life and live longer.

"Feeling that you have a sense of purpose in life may help you live longer, no matter what your age, according to research published in Psychological Science, a journal of the Association for Psychological Science."

Whether you work in an office or are a full time parent or are studying, finding meaning in what we do makes a huge difference in the quality of our lives.

You can find meaning in whatever you are doing if the choices you have made line up to your purpose and values.

And if what you are doing daily is not a conscious choice that you have made but a by product of the conditioning that you have received when you were young then it is time that you re-evaluate your values and purpose.

So what does a meaningful life look like? Here are some thoughts that could help you evaluate and reflect on your life.

  • A meaningful life is when what you do every day makes you feel good.

  • The work that you do contributes in some ways to a larger goal that benefits a community, a family or a group of people.

  • Your contribution makes a difference in the lives of others, even if it is one person at a time.

  • A meaningful life is when you are able to see the various experiences and setbacks that you have had in your life as part of a bigger plan. It helps you connect to the universal energy that governs our reality.

  • A meaningful life is when you have faith in something constant that helps you make decisions, choices and actions knowing that in the end you will be fine. It could be faith in yourself, god, the universe or source.

  • A meaningful life is that in which you can see your value and clearly see yourself for who you really are - a special, unique, light-filled being, an extension of the non physical and a powerful creator of your own life.

Here are a few advantages of living a life which is meaningful

  • As scientists have already researched and proved, adding meaning to your life makes you healthier no matter what your age.

  • You feel good in the present moment and that raises your vibration.

  • You manifest whatever you want with more ease.

  • You manage stress better and you become more resilient. You let go of the resentment which, as you know is bad for your mental and physical health.

  • Doing something meaningful makes you happier in the present.

Since each of you are unique in your own way, what makes your life meaningful is also very unique to your personal circumstances. I invite you to reflect on what you do everyday, and find ways to add meaning and a sense of purpose to your job or daily life. Perhaps this reflection will force you to make different choices or perhaps take a different path in your career or personal life. Either way this exercise will help you improve the quality of your life.
